MONDAY MORNING PLAYS:
#1 Bears +4.5 vs Packers
6 Units @$1.88 (Beteasy)
Bears WIN
2 Units @$2.85 (Ladbrokes)
The Bears come in having won 3 on the trot and 4/5. They had a mini-bye with 10 days off and Akiem Hicks is back after missing most of the season. There are a number of reasons for this resurgence, of course the Bears defence has played a significant role, but Mitch Trubisky and the offence is finally finding some life. He has 11 passing TDs in this span, best for 4th in the league and averaging 245 yards/game, up for than 80 than his average for the first 10 weeks.
This Green Bay team is not as good as their 10-3 record would suggest, and with the exception of their O-line which has been amongst the best in the league, they have had struggles across the board. Rodgers remains an elite QB but has not been at his best this season and the defence has been regressing after a strong start. They rank 22nd in terms for yards allowed per game and the revitalised Trubisky and this Bears offence should be able to move the ball much more effectively than their earlier meeting.
An important divisional game awaits and this should be tight. The Bears are in a good position to win this one outright
#2 Redskins +6.5 vs Eagles
6 Units @$1.90 (TAB)
Redskins WIN
2 Units @$3.30 (Beteasy)
Lane Johnson, the Eagles RT is an absolute superstar. Whilst he doesn’t play in a position that generates many highlight plays or name recognition his importance to this Eagles side cannot be overestimated. We aren’t going to re-hash all of the splits of with/without Johnson as it has only been a few weeks since we explored this is depth – but this has a huge impact on the Eagles. Particularly in combination with the injury to Agholor last week as well, the Eagles are down to 3 healthy receivers, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, a 2nd round rookie who has had a rough season as well as Greg Ward and Robert Davis off the practice squad. It’s hard to see how the Eagles are going to score points here, particularly after watching them struggle so badly against the Giants last week.
Bill Callahan has done an outstanding job with an extremely limited squad and raw rookie QB since taking over. Their O-line has been stronger and Haskins is trending in the right direction. Defensively the Redskins have been solid, allowing 21 or less in 3 straight and didn’t give up a second half TD last week. Terry McLaurin had another nice game against the Packers and should have a big game here against a poor Eagles secondary. It’s hard to see how the Eagles are such a large road favourite here and the Redskins should cover in a tight one and are a chance to win outright
#3 Seattle Seahawks -5.5
6 Units @$1.86 (Sportsbet)
Where do you even start with the Panthers struggles? This season cant end soon enough for Carolina, who have sacked Ron Rivera and have lost 5 straight by an average of 13 points and defensively have been atrocious – giving up an average of 31 points across their last 9 fixtures. These losses include losing by 8 to the redskins as a double digit favourite at home 2 weeks ago and then a 40-20 hiding at the hands of the Falcons last week, they well and truely look like they’ve thrown in the towel at this point.
On the other side of the ball Kyle Allen has surely raised questions in the mind of the Panthers front office as to whether or not he truely is the replacement for Cam Newton. He’s been sacked 21 times in the past 4 weeks and will surely add to that number against a strong Seattle pass rush.
This is a great bounce back spot for the Seahawks after a rough outing last week against the Rams. Russell Wilson and co should have no issues against this Panthers defence and should win this one by double digits
#4 Broncos +10
5 Units @$1.88 (Beteasy / Bet365)
What a start to his career Drew Lock has had! We were super high on Lock coming out of college and what a start to his NFL career it’s been, he already looks much more polished than the other QBs in this class.
Now if we discount the Broncos first 4 games where they were terrible, the Broncos have continued to improve and had a very respectable season. Since then the Broncos are 5-4 SU and 7-2 ATS, as they continue to be undervalued off the back of their poor start.
The Broncos raced out to a 38-3 lead last week against the Texans in what was an absolutely dominating performance despite the Texans making the score slightly more respectable late. The defence is now what we were expecting under Vic Fangio and Von Miller will be available which is a huge plus for the Broncos.
The Chiefs aren’t just in top gear at the moment, having won just 2/11 games by 10+, one against the Broncos in a bizarre game where the Broncos scored after a 75 yard touchdown driveto open the game and then didn’t score again (with Flacco under centre) and then the second against a Raiders side in the midst of their struggles after being eliminated from playoff contention.
The Broncos will hang tight with the Chiefs and make this a tight game.
#5 Titans/Texans – Both Teams To Score 20+ Points
6 Units @$1.89 (Pointsbet)
Both Teams To Score 25+ Points
1 Unit @$3.80 (Pointsbet)
This has all the makings of a shootout, with two teams whose offences are poised to capitalise on the weaknesses of their opponents defence.
The Titans have looked like a completely different side since benching Mariota and brining in Tannehill, who has been immense for the Titans – and they’ve scored 31 ppg in his tenure as starter. Derrick Henry has been putting up video game numbers, since week 10 he has averaged 149.8 yards per game on the ground at 7(!) yards per carry. They should be able to run all over a Texans defence which has been unable to stop the run since losing JJ Watt to another season ending injury. Supplemented by Tannehill’s long ball which has been brilliant this season the Titans should be able to pile on the points here.
On the flipside, Watson and the Texans look set to be able to point the weaknesses in this Titan’s secondary. They’ve scored 20+ in 8/9 games whilst the Titans have only held one team under 20 in the past 7 and that was the Colts to 17. This should be a cracking game of NFL and well worth tuning into tomorrow morning!
