Manly vs NZ Warriors

With Tom Trbojevic returning from injury to play his first game in 2019, we can effectively kickoff Manly’s season. With this game played in Christchurch, the emotion that will come over the Warriors must be considered. With the terror attack a fortnight earlier still fresh in everybody’s minds, expect a huge crowd in with everyone supporting the home team. Technically the away side in this one, the Warriors have the better 17 and surely can’t play as poorly as they did last week.

It was the 14 errors and eight penalties that killed the Warriors last week. All six of the opposition tries came within two minutes of a Warriors penalty or error. The Warriors have the better list across the park this week and if they hold on to the ball they’ll win this comfortably.

North Qld Cowboys host Cronulla Sharks.

Cowboys have had a major reshuffle due to some injuries but most importantly they lost their big man Jason Taumalolo. Cronulla Sharks are unchanged. Cowboys have so much depth and after last weeks embarrassing loss I really see a huge effort this afternoon. Facing the Cowboys at home is one of the toughest things to do in the NRL and the Sharks aren’t up for it. Cowboys should be favourites here.

Penrith Panthers vs Melbourne Storm

This game is out in Bathurst so a neutral venue takes all advantage away from Penrith. Storm have a very good record against the Panthers winning 7 of their last 8 and the only one they lose was the last round where the Storm rested players and Penrith needed to win to make finals. Penrith half James Maloney played the best game I think I’ve ever seen him play last week and they still only managed to win by 2 against the Knights. I see the Storm getting their first win in Bathurst rather comfortably here.

The Storm have started both of their games very strong leading 14-0 and 10-0 at half time while the Panthers have had slow starts to their games trailing at half time against the Eels 8-0 and only leading the Knights by 10-8 last week at half time. Penrith haven’t lead at half time in the last 7 straight games against the Storm.
