ANALYSIS:
An interesting game ahead on TNF. After starting 0-3, and losing Big Ben, the Steelers have rattled off 4 straight wins and won 5/6 with only an OT loss to the Ravens in week 5 in this stretch.
The key for the Steelers has been their defensive revolution since trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick and they once against resemble a vintage Pittsburg defence. They have the 3rd best defence in the league via DVOA metrics and are coming off a dominant performance against Jared Goff and the Rams, where they only gave up one defensive score in their 17-12 loss – the Rams other 9 points came from a snap which sailed over Rudolph’s head on the first possession of the game for a fumble return TD and a safety. Baker Mayfield and the Browns have struggled offensively all season despite a lot of talent on paper in the supporting cast. Mayfield has more INTs (12) than TDs (9) and their offensive line has been terrible, allowing 25 sacks on the season – who will have a rough time against a great Steelers defensive unit
Mason Rudolph continues to do enough to win football games and will be delighted to see the return of James Connor from injury against one of the bottom 10 rushing defensive units, who have allowed 1,214 rushing yards on 4.9 yards per attempt.
Combined with a significant coaching advantage on short rest, this Steelers side should do enough against the Browns here and have a good chance to win outright in a defence-led performance.
