There’s no denying the form of Dominic Thiem. Only dropping 1 set all tournament to the veteran Cilic. Right before he swept through Felix Auger Aliassime, Alex De Minaur and Danill Medvedev all in straight sets. He’s put on a Djokovic type run. Which in fact would’ve been the matchup here had he not been defaulted. This sets up the perfect maiden Grand Slam title for Thiem. His defence is way too good, negating the serve of Zverev and putting a lot of pressure on him to hold. Zverev hasn’t shown enough on return this tournament to give us any hope he can hold his own. Thiem is way too fast and composed in the big points. Zverev will need to play out of his skin here to have a chance, and even then he’ll need extra luck.
